REGRA DOS DITONGOS ABERTOS OXÍTONOS

São acentuados os ditongos abertos oxítonos terminados em:

éu(s): fogaréu, chapéu, Ilhéus…

éi(s): anéis, fiéis, papéis…

ói(s): herói, corrói, remói…

Observação:

Segundo o Novo Acordo, “São acentuadas as palavras oxítonas terminadas em ditongos abertos ‘éu’, ‘éi’ e ‘ói’, incluindo os monossílabos tônicos.”

Ex.: fogaréu, céu, anéis, méis, corrói, mói…

ATENÇÃO!

Não acentuamos mais os ditongos abertos ‘éu’, ‘éi’ e ‘ói’ paroxítonos!

EX.: ideia, assembleia, jiboia, heroico…

O acento, nesses ditongos abertos, torna-se, portanto, exclusivo das palavras oxítonas e monossílabos tônicos.
